Biography
Annalisa Powell has had a lifelong passion for music. She is also passionate about weddings, and making every couple’s special day as special as it can be. Annalisa holds a Bachelor of Music, which she completed at the WA Academy of Performing Arts in 2007. A long-time student of Mary-Anne Blades (Associate Principal, WASO), she graduated from her degree in 2007 with a High Distinction, and was awarded the prestigious Barbara MacLeod Scholarship for Most Outstanding Female Final Year Student. Over the last 5 years she has performed in the WAAPA university orchestra, symphonic band Force 12, vocal ensemble Eneksis, operas “Love Burns” and “A Dinner Engagement”(2006), and the musicals “Once On This Island” and “West Side Story” (2007). She was the 2006 winner of the City of Bayswater Music Scholarship and the North of Perth Open Championship for wind instruments. In 2007 she was selected as a performer at the William Bennett International Summer School and the Oxford Flute Summer School in England, under the tuition of William Bennett, Michael Cox and Peter Lloyd, and also received tuition from Virginia Taylor at the Canberra School of Music. She was invited back to perform at these courses in 2008, and will be spending the remainder of the year studying flute under the guidance of Michael Cox (Principal Flute,BBC Symphony Orchestra; Professor, Royal Academy of Music) and extended techniques expert/composer Ian Clarke.
